After reviewing Forbes “Top seven technology trends that will dominate 2014,” and Gartner’s “Top 10 strategic technology trends for 2014,” it is safe to say new inventions and ideas will take over within the next year.
The smart watch has recently made its debut allowing more than just a quick check for time or another piece of jewelry. This gadget brings a new form of decoration by granting access to messaging, social networking, emailing, and music all on the wrist. And, it’s about to improve even more. There are rumors of the Google Watch coming out in October of 2014 with some of the same features along with the addition of Google Now. This adds a voice activation feature allowing us to pull up applications by talking to it.
Rumors have spread regarding the high-tech Google Glass. This invention has taken technology to a whole new level by allowing us to view various applications right before our eyes…literally. According to the New York Times, Google Glass includes features such as social networking, news, Google searches, text messaging and the ability to record what you are seeing. Although there is not a set date, this gizmo will make its debut sometime in 2014.
3D printing was originally created in 1984 by Charles Hull. This unique device has successfully entered the market reaching ($) in sales and is only expected to rise. According to TechCrunch, sales in 3D printers are expected to grow 75% with a total of 98,065 units. Before we know it, 3D printing will be just as common as the average printer in any household.
With these improved pieces of technology, our world can expect to see a new way of living. By having the possibility of technology all on the wrist and right in front of your eyes, along with the printing of 3D images, they too will soon become just as common as a cell phone.
