Due to the recent impact of the Cryptolocker 2.0 virus we strongly recommend you take preventive measures to protect your data.
- Do not click on suspicious looking links or email attachments
- It is recommended to disable flash player, but this may break functionality of some websites
- Make sure you have current backups with restore points
Cryptolocker 2.0 is a ransom virus that encrypts files until a specified ransom is paid. There are no currently known ways to break the virus and retrieve your data. Make sure to speak with your IT provider about creating backup and restore points on your network. Restoring backups is the only known work around in getting files back once they are encrypted by the virus. If you are a Tecvar client and think you computer may be infected disconnect the computer from your network and turn off WIFI. After you have disconnected call 866-TECVAR1 for more assistance in restoring your files.
