The latest story lines take imagination to the next level…the future.
Movies, books, and television shows tell the stories of futuristic characters and the world around them. One of the most recent, “Elysium,” portrays the extent of what technology could do in the future.
A polluted and unlivable world forces the people within it to build a heaven-like habitat in space. The residents who reside there have everything at their fingertips. Technology within this place is so advanced, a simple scan of any disease infected body could be healed instantly.
At the rate our technology is advancing now, it would be no surprise if this story were to become reality. There have been many studies on what the future of technology will bring. One in particular, Intuit Future of Small Business Report, gives a sneak-peak at what we can expect for small businesses.
According to this report, one thing will not change: A business’ daily tasks will only become easier because of technology. The research breaks down the future of technology in three key points:“The Connected World: Small Business Management On My Time, On My Terms”-Mobile devices will be the core of small businesses. Cell phones will have the ability to project anything within the device onto any screen. There will also be “digital assistants” who will provide further analytical insight to “drive better decision making.”
- “Beyond Web 2.0: Technology Fuels Small Business Formation, Operations, and Innovation.”-The cost and complexity of technology will be reduced. This will make the more advanced technology easier to use for the not so technologically savvy person. The social networks will only expand as businesses will be able to further their customers, partners, and suppliers further than its local area. Virtual worlds will also be created to reach more businesses for the B2B market.
- “Small Business Marketing: The Mindset Shifts from Push to Pull.”-Businesses will pull the customer in rather than pushing their product out. This will be done by putting themselves in the areas their customers use the most. For instance, there will be glasses that will give information on a business when in sight.
In the end, no one really knows the future, but it is worth predicting. Who knows, we could have a world with scanners that will heal any disease just like the movie.
